11 Years in Portsmouth

Providing certainty in an uncertain market

Press release 01.03.2026 Furniture News

Furniture To Go team

This year marks 11 years since Furniture To Go established its Portsmouth distribution hub, a milestone that reflects resilience, operational discipline, and a long-term commitment to supporting UK furniture retailers.

In a market that continues to demand greater speed, lower risk, and stronger availability, stability has never been more valuable. Retailers are increasingly aligning with supply partners who can hold stock locally, fulfil quickly, and remove friction from the buying process.

From our Portsmouth warehouse, we now stock more than 1,800 product lines available for next-day delivery. With no minimum order quantities and a cash-flow-friendly model, our partners can react to real customer demand rather than commit to deep forward ordering.

A key strength behind this model is our portfolio of long-standing European manufacturing partners, including Actona Group, Tvilum, Meble Wojcik, and Forte. Each brings distinct design expertise and manufacturing scale, but together they enable us to offer retailers something increasingly important: dependable choice without supply complexity.

Recent range expansions reflect how homes and shopper expectations, continue to evolve. Adaptable dining tables, including resizable formats, support modern multifunctional living spaces. Glass coffee tables introduce lighter visual appeal, while refined bedside collections deliver the consistency today’s consumers expect from coordinated interiors. However, strong product alone is no longer enough. Execution is what separates retailers who grow from those who simply maintain.

That is why we focus on doing the hard work for our partners. Live stock feeds, seamless CSV integrations, point-of-sale materials, marketplace-ready content, and comprehensive digital assets come as standard. Fast fulfilment, including drop-ship upholstery and two-person delivery options, helps retailers enhance the customer experience without increasing operational strain.

Simply put, our role is to make furniture retail easier. As the industry moves further into 2026, agility is becoming a defining competitive advantage. Retailers who protect cash flow, stay operationally lean, and align with supply partners capable of moving at speed will be best positioned to capture demand when it appears.

After 11 years in Portsmouth, our strategy remains clear: continue investing in UK stock, deepen our manufacturing partnerships, and provide the reliability retailers need to trade with confidence.
Because in a market that never stands still, certainty is a powerful advantage.

Meet the team .

All set for the NEC

FTG and Actona set for growth!

Press release 01.01.2026

Meet Us at the NEC on Actona’s Stand: 1-A80, 1-A92

You’ll find us on the Actona Stand: 1-A80, 1-A92 throughout the show, ready to discuss opportunities, walk you through the collections, and explore how this partnership can support growth throughout 2026 and beyond.

Every January, the UK furniture industry descends on the NEC with the same goal: to get a clear sense of where the market is heading. It’s a moment for buyers and suppliers to regroup, compare notes and identify what will define the coming year. After a period of economic fluctuation and shifting consumer behaviour, 2026 feels like a year retailers want to approach with more confidence and clarity.

That’s one reason Actona’s presence at the show stands out. The market has been leaning towards products that balance design value with commercial realism, and Actona continues to occupy that space with consistency. Their approach to modern, accessible Scandinavian design has always resonated, but the collections being showcased this year feel particularly well-timed. Warmer finishes, softer silhouettes, clever material mixes and clean lines all reflect where consumer taste is moving. “Customers still want good value,” Paul says, “but they’re also demanding something that looks and feels more considered. Actona have judged that balance very well this year.”

One of the biggest challenges facing retailers right now is the need to offer more choice without taking on more risk. Online shoppers browse widely, compare extensively and expect retailers to show depth. Yet at the same time, the appetite for holding stock has dropped sharply, especially among independents and online-first retailers. “The tension is real,” Paul explains. “Retailers want a broader assortment, but they don’t want to invest heavily in inventory that might move slowly. That’s where our model becomes useful.”

Furniture To Go currently holds around 1,800 commercial lines in UK stock, available for next-day delivery. It enables retailers to bring in fresh styles, broaden their online categories or react quickly to emerging trends without tying up cash or warehouse space. As Paul puts it, “It gives retailers freedom. They can widen their offer, they can test new looks, and they can do it without taking on the burden of stock.”

The NEC show is where all of this comes together. Digital catalogues have never been more sophisticated, yet nothing replaces the value of seeing a new collection in person. Touching the materials, assessing the proportions and examining the finishes are all important factors for retailers deciding what will resonate with customers. “A range can look great online,” Paul notes, “but it’s only when you stand in front of it that you understand how it will actually sit in a customer’s home or on a shop floor.”

Actona’s stand provides that clarity. Although it is fully their showcase and creative vision, the presence of Furniture To Go adds practical relevance for UK buyers. Retailers can not only explore what Actona is launching but also understand how those products translate into operational capability in the UK. “People want to know what’s stocked, how fast it moves, and how quickly they can have it,” Paul explains. “So being there helps connect the creative side with the practical side.”

Conversations across the industry suggest that the market is cautiously optimistic again. Confidence isn’t completely restored, but nor is the uncertainty that characterised previous years. Instead, retailers are asking sharper questions: which finishes will define the year, how important warmth will be in home environments, how quickly they need to react to trend shifts, and how much operational flexibility they need to maintain.

Actona’s collections for 2026 seem to address these questions directly. The aesthetic is contemporary but grounded. The materials feel tactile and warm. And the pricing remains highly commercial, even in a landscape that has seen significant cost pressure. “It’s a range that feels right for now,” Paul says. “There’s a calmness and clarity to it that I think the market’s ready for.”

The broader narrative is about how retailers choose to operate in 2026. Fast, flexible, low-risk structures are becoming essential. Suppliers who combine strong design with reliable availability and delivery are becoming increasingly important. The intersection of Actona’s creative direction and FTG’s operational infrastructure appears to be the point where many UK retailers are planning to build resilience and growth.

“If I had to summarise where the opportunity is for retailers this year,” Paul adds, “it’s in offering more without taking on more. That’s the direction the market is heading, and we’re structuring everything we do to help retailers move in that direction.”

As the industry gathers at the NEC, the Actona stand is likely to be a strong indicator of how the mid-market is evolving. The products capture where consumer taste is going, and the route to market is already set up and ready for retailers to use. After a tumultuous few years, that combination of creative strength and operational clarity feels like exactly what many retailers are looking for as they prepare for the year ahead.

FTG and Actona Launch Stock-Free Sofa Offer:

A Partnership That Delivers: a.upholstery, the Next Evolution!

Press release 29.10.2025

Two years ago, Furniture To Go (FTG) and Actona Group joined forces, forging a partnership that has since transformed the UK and Irish B2B furniture market. FTG, already a leading supplier of cabinets, occasional furniture, and dropship solutions, has leveraged this collaboration to expand its category offering and strengthen its next-day delivery proposition.

“The results have been outstanding,” says Paul Sheldon, FTG’s Director of Sales and Operations. “Actona’s design expertise, combined with our UK warehouse and fulfilment capability, has given retailers fast access to stylish, high-quality furniture – without the usual stock risk.”

Since the partnership began, FTG has stocked Actona’s full range of chairs, dining tables, storage, and occasional pieces in its Portsmouth warehouse, ensuring next-day delivery to stores and direct to customers. With over 2000 SKUs across 100+ commercial ranges and a 98% on-shelf availability rate, retailers benefit from a comprehensive, one-stop solution.

Mike Devey from Actona adds: “Making our UK commercial assortment instantly available through FTG has strengthened our presence in the market and helped retailers respond quickly to growing demand.”

Building on this success, FTG and Actona are now launching a.upholstery, a stock-free sofa concept designed for modern UK retail.

“Retailers asked for the same speed and flexibility they get from our dropship model applied to sofas,” explains Paul. “With a.upholstery, they can display instore or list the range online, and we handle delivery straight from our warehouse, within 24 hours, without the need for the retailer holding stock.”

The collection combines European design heritage, contemporary styling, durable fabrics, and versatile colours, offering pieces suitable for a wide range of interiors. And this is just the beginning, FTG plans to expand the a.upholstery offering with more ranges to follow, giving retailers even greater choice and flexibility.

Partnering with a.upholstery opens a powerful new revenue stream for retailers looking to grow in the high-demand sofa market without the risks of traditional stockholding. Fabric sofas are among the most sought-after furniture pieces, enhancing the ambience and comfort of any customer’s living room. For retailers, we bring a luxurious and plush range featuring 2-seater, 3-seater, fabric corner sofas, and chaise longues to choose from.

We’ve combined versatility and Scandinavian craftsmanship with a premium feel to create furniture that is reliable, aesthetic, and built to last for years to come. This presents a value-driven opportunity for you, the retailer, and your future customers to own and sell products you can both be passionate about and proud of. All our sofas come flat-packed and ready for next-day delivery. Leave the stock management, trust, and logistics to us; we’ll handle the hard work for you.

By merging Actona’s design excellence with FTG’s logistics strength, a.upholstery provides a high-quality, risk-free way to sell sofas, while maintaining competitive pricing and reliable next-day service. FTG continues to cement its position as the UK’s one-stop shop for next-day home delivery, providing retailers with a comprehensive offering across living, dining, and now a.upholstery.

Press release 01.04.2022

Furniture To Go continues to forge lasting relationships, which has been key to its successful growth. Paul Sheldon, Furniture To Go’s director of sales and operations, revealed: ‘We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved at FTG in recent years. Our partnerships with our suppliers was how it all began and it continues to be the way we thrive’.

‘It’s about building a relationship with them and creating a long-term sustainable model and not a fly-by-night supply and demand model. We have worked hard on delivering the route to market for some key commercial products through our supply chain management.

FTG’s customer-centric approach has also been integral to the company's development and growth, as Paul continued: ‘We have worked with our customers the same way that we have worked with our partner suppliers, by building that relationship and understanding their needs.’

It is this ethos that has maintained a solid platform for growth over the years, as well as providing the strategy for growing its partners. FTG is now proud to announce the next stage of this growth with another key partner, Forte to its FTG brand. Forte is a leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble furniture, with 31 years of production under its belt.

Forte’s national sales manager Victoria Ross is as equally as proud of the new partnership. Victoria had this to say: ‘We had spent some time trying to find the right distribution partner for Forte in the UK. We wanted to be able to offer our customers a trusted, reliable service that gave them access to next-day stock and we found that in Furniture To Go. Retailers can access most of our collections without having to meet our standard production minimum order quantities. FTG partner with Manis-H:

When only the best is good enough

Press release 04.04.2021

Furniture To Go are very proud to announce another exclusive European production powerhouse to the UK. Manis-h is a Danish owned company that combines years of experience with drive and initiative. Since 1972 the family-owned business has been producing commercial quality children’s products under well-known brands like Thuka and Flexa. This long experience ensures products are safe, not only to safeguard kids during impulsive games, but also to ensure they comply with applicable legislation.

The standard and quality of these products is not coincidental, everything has been done with a meaning to it. To be modest, this will be a market leading product in the UK. Designed and produced in Denmark, everything single aspect is fully realized in the production. The development happens in close co-operation with experts, to reveal the ‘real’ effect and durability of the product.

With legs of massive beechwood you can be sure to have a robust bed – whether it is a high or a low one. Beech wood is a slowly growing tree, which gives it a hard and robust resistance and strength to sustain wear and tear from years of daily use. So, it is not without reason that this is our preferred material. You will never find any knots sweating through the surface or weakening the strength of the wood, as there are no knots in our beechwood. All the beds side, safety rails and so on are made from MDF. Our paint is water-based and does not contain any dangerous chemicals harmful to children.

Children love colour, and creativity. With a great selection of play curtains, pockets, cushions, shelf units, and even a chalkboard – children can express themselves in their own way. If the space beneath the bed is not used, it is a perfect place to store toys. Our underbed drawers have clever drawer guides that make them roll back and forth seamlessly.

It is with great excitement that we welcome you to Manis-H.
